saturday night fever
Yesterday was supposed to be fun. But, it wasn't. My co-worker was nice enough to invite us to a birthday party for her 5 year old grandson. He has autism and she thought it would be nice for Little Bear and Anthony to be friends. She also has another granson Hoho's age, so they could play together.
But, Hoho woke up with a fever of 101.8 and it stayed that way until after midnight. I asked him if his head, throat, ears, tummy, anything hurt. He would only answer, "No, HOT!"
I gave him water and baby Tylenol. He took a cool bath, he napped, and he cried. He whined all day long and I seriously couldn't take more than three steps away from him before he would cry and want me to pick him up. I don't mind comforting him, especially when he doesn't feel good, but sometimes mama's gotta pee, ya know! And mama would have liked to shower at some point.
I felt terrible for Little Bear. He kept asking when we were going to the party. Finally, I kinda snapped at him (after he asked me several hundred times and I had told him we weren't going because Hoho was sick several hundred times in response) and he finally got it and let it go. I felt especially bad because I had to devote so much time to Hoho yesterday that Little Bear was on his own to amuse himself most of the day. Thank God he loves playing Google Maps and Nick on his laptop.
In the afternoon, LB started asking me when we were going to "Anna Heina". I asked him, "Who is Anna Heina?". He tried to explain with the following: Anna Heina has the hotel. Anna Heina is on 91 Highway. Anna Heina has the mouse. We get gas in Anna Heina then we go on Harbor Boulevard to Disneyland!
Oh, I see. Annaheim. He wants to go to Disneyland. It's not as subtle a hint as he gave last week when all of his therapists were like, "Have fun at Disneyland!" as we were leaving." Apparently, he told them all that we were going. Oh, he is a smooth operator.
And now, I leave you with me as a Simpson's character. Thanks, Harriet!
