careful what you wish for

The other night we went for a walk in our neighborhood and took the dogs to play in the elementary school playfield. So, we put Churchy in his stroller, the dogs on their three headed leash, and Little Bear in his power chair. We are a sight going through the neighborhood for sure.

Apparently we weren't the only ones with that idea because there were a bunch of adults, kids and dogs playing there. Of course everyone turns to stare at us beacuse they don't usually see such a small kid driving himself around in a wheelchair. And the kid flies! Most of the time people smile or say hi but you'd be surprised at the number of people who stare at Little Bear with kind of snotty looks on their faces. I've actually had to tell people to take a picture already asshole! God help the first person who is mean to Bear, they will be decapitated.

As soon as Little Bear saw the play equipment, Grumpy had to take him out of his chair and put him on the bridge and slide thingy. While I played catch with the dogs and watched Churchy, Grumpy played with Little Bear. That meant Little Bear's power chair was sitting empty, but still in clear view.

I started hearing the familiar continued rise of a child's voice as it starts to whine on it's way to having a tantrum. I turned to see a mom pulling her kid away from Little Bear's chair telling the kid that she can't touch it. The kid was crying her eyes out and saying, "I WANT A WHEELCHAIR!" Her mom practically had to drag her off.

I guess I understand that kids only see a fun, fast ride. Trust me kid, I'd gladly give you his wheelchair if you'd give him your ability to walk and talk.

Today, we are going to go see some of our favorite Seattle sights since Grumpy has the day off. Should be fun.
