hot hot heat
Man it got really hot here for a few days. Most people here have no air conditioning, so you just don't get a break. It makes people grumpy, especially Grumpy and me. And we're already both moody assholes, so you can imagine how fun we have been to be around. But Churchy got his first trip into the swimming pool and he liked it very much, kicking and splashing and squealing.
We went to Dave and Bunny's wedding party on Saturday and sweated to death but had a great time doing so. Little Bear had an absolute blast four wheeling his wheelchair all over the park. He went literally non-stop until his battery was completely drained and he still couldn't get enough. Poor Thomas had to push him around and around to keep him smiling. The dogs could roam freely as it was all fenced in and we even got to see the neighbors Llamas rolling in the dirt trying to stay cool.
Sadly, on the way home that night I stopped to help a woman who was in the middle of the road. A raccoon had been hit and killed and she was trying to get it out of the road because it's partner kept coming out into the road trying to drag it off and she was afraid that it would get hit as well. It was so sad, the live raccoon just sat in a tree watching us as we moved the dead raccoon to the side of the road under the tree. As you can imagine, I cried the whole way home.
I've been packing and packing and it still seems I haven't packed a thing. I've already run out of small boxes and have to get more. And the house is a complete shit hole. Only one month left, sigh.
Grumpy and I were rudely awakened this morning at three am by the lovely sounds of Little Bear crying and then throwing up everything he has apparently ever eaten since birth. It was revolting, but he seems to be feeling better this morning.
Grumpy left about an hour ago to head down to Mt. St. Helen's. He's going hiking with his dad so they can spread his grandfather's ashes. So I am alone with the kids until Friday. I hope they know what they are doing. Grumpy hasn't been hiking in like 9 years, as I am not exactly a roughing it type of girl. I have never and will never pee outside, ever.

the sweet life
Yesterday afternoon I got to spend a lovely couple of hours sailing on Puget Sound, with all of my ex-coworkers. That is the life. I will miss living on the water. Pictures to follow soon.
Can I tell you how happy I am at this moment in time? Grumpy just set up my laptop for me and I am now wireless, which means that right now I am in bed, in my jammies, blogging, loading music onto my I-Pod, and watching tv with Little Bear while feeding Church with my free hand. Am I a multi-tasker or what?

another day in paradise
I never thought I would enjoy being a sahm as much as I am. I think it is because it is summer and the weather has been fantastic. of course, I have been so busy that I am glad to not have to go to work. I miss my friends at work and the money though!
I am helping Bunny get stuff ready for her wedding, which I am enjoying so much and I can't wait to take our roadtrip to Michigan for the festivities in September. I have started packing for the big move and I reserved the U-Haul and all that fun stuff.
On July 4th two great things happened. My friends Arron and Erin had their baby girl, and I ran into my old friend, Jennie, at the dog park. We haven't seen each other in about 9 years. We email and send Christmas cards but just never hook up. So Jennie, her partner, Elise, and their dog, Auggie, ended up coming over to BBQ with us. It was great fun to catch up but it makes me even more sad to think about the amazing people I am leaving behind when we move next month.
I will say that I am very stoked because last week I had keyless entry and an alarm installed on the Caravan. Keyless entry is a must for me and I figured since I have a $10,000 wheelchair in my van, I'd better get an alarm so no one steals the damn thing.
In a couple of weeks I am going to have a new car stereo with I-Pod hook up installed and a DVD player for the kids. If I have to drive to Arizona by myself with 3 dogs, 5 cats and 2 kids, I had better have access to my 80's music and something to keep the kids occupied.
Well, I am off to take Little Bear to hippotherapy!
